Mobile apps for iOS and Android
In React Native and Expo, with their own backend behind them: apps that keep working offline, sync and talk to hardware.
What it is
I build the app and the server that belongs to it. One TypeScript codebase for iOS and Android, with a Fastify backend and PostgreSQL.
An app is used where the network is poor, by people who are not technical. That is why it keeps working offline, loses no data and answers every tap.
Where it runs
Three apps, with what they do and what I measured.
- Fyldd, field service platformIn development, not live yetFyldd, a field service platform I am building for a client: 57 app screens for the engineer, from planning to the customer's signature.
- Driving theory practice appIn development, not in the stores yetAn iOS and Android app that works offline, with 2,616 questions in 26 categories and 566 test cases. Not in the stores yet.
- Bluetooth app for a clientFor a clientAn app for a client that controls light controllers over Bluetooth Low Energy, with more test code than production code.
Built with
TypeScript / React Native / Expo / Fastify / PostgreSQL / drizzle-orm / Bluetooth Low Energy / Jest
What I build
- 01
Offline first
The driving theory app puts answers in an idempotent queue and syncs between devices without losing data.
- 02
Purchases validated in-house
The server checks App Store and Google Play purchases itself, with a second payment rail through Mollie next to it.
- 03
Bluetooth Low Energy
One connection supervisor that reconnects by itself, up to ten controllers at once, and for sliders the last value wins.
- 04
Every tap gets an answer
An action in the Bluetooth app always ends in an outcome the user sees, never in silence.
- 05
In the user's language
The Fyldd app comes in 11 languages, the Bluetooth app in nine.
An app that needs building, or a team that is building one?
